So it’s nearly time to bid farewell to the original Swine, or The Pig, the OG GP if you will. The tiny sandwich shop that Stu and I moved into over 12 years ago, which has grown and evolved into the much loved restaurant that it is now.
Goodness though, it’s been a journey! Look at us!! How young and fresh faced we were back then! This is us having just tipped our first ever bag of coffee beans in to the hopper ready to serve our first ever cup of coffee.

If you’ve chatted to me over the years you will know that our motivation for opening The Greedy Pig was simply to work and spend more time together as a family. Working shifts in different industries had put a lot of strain on our relationship and finding time for family life was difficult. There was never any grand plan to take over the world. We simply wanted to be together. I’m not entirely sure our young son Connor expected the unexpected twist his life would take…..

But of course, as you all know, we didn’t stand still. The Pig grew up in to the The Swine. Bacon sandwiches gave way to small plates. Pies appeared. Small Plates became Large Plates, and someitmes they had Schnitzels on them. But now is the time for all this to come to an end……
We’re leaving North Street.

So where are we going???? Ah that’s not for now. That’s for another email. Another blog update or social media post. We’re going to tease you all a little bit longer about future plans. For now it’s the time to say goodbye to our little home on North Street.
Our last service on North Street will be Saturday 21st December. So you still have time to persuade the grandparents to babysit for one last Date Night at The Swine. Get your friends together for one last afterwork catch up. There’s time for one last lunch at The Swine before heading out for cocktails. Maybe you’ve got time for just one more pretheatre meal or after cinema debrief when you talk about whatever the heck that film was all about!!!
So we will be closed during January whilst we put the final touches to The NEW Swine!!!! Subscribers to our somewhat eratic email updates will all be the first to know when bookings open at our new venue. Keep your eyes peeled…..
